EU stops 130 illegal migrants at Belarus border

September 16, BPN. Over the past 24 hours, EU countries have not allowed 130 migrants to illegally enter from Belarus.

The Lithuanian State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reported that 64 migrants were forced away in the Lithuanian-Belarusian border area on September 15. Since the beginning of the year, Lithuania has recorded 6,775 illegal attempts to cross the border.

Four attempts to cross into the European Union were thwarted on the Latvian-Belarusian border.

The Polish Border Guard tweeted that 62 migrants tried to penetrate from Belarus. Among them were 11 citizens of Egypt and Syria attempting to cross the Śvisłač River.

It noted that at the Narewka border post, Polish border guards managed to detain a Ukrainian who was helping 14 illegal migrants from Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
