Russia transfers hypersonic missiles, fighter jets to Belarus – British intelligence

November 1, BPN. Russia might have transported to Belarus hypersonic missiles and MiG-31K fighter jets that can carry them, British defense intelligence said.

It has released satellite images of the Mačuliščy military airfield near Minsk where “two MiG-31K FOXHOUND interceptor jets were almost certainly parked. . . on 17 October, with a large canister stored nearby within a protective earth berm.”

“It is likely that the canister is associated with the AS-24 KILLJOY air launched ballistic missile, a large munition which the MiG-31K variant is adapted to carry,” the British defense ministry tweeted.

These missiles with a range of over 2,000 km may give Russia some advantage in the war against Ukraine, but their stocks are limited, it added. Missiles of this type have not been previously deployed in Belarus.

Since October 15, Russia has been redeploying troops and aviation to Belarus as part of the joint regional group with the Belarusian army.

Earlier, Alaksandr Łukašenka admitted that Belarus participated in Russia’s war on Ukraine, but said it was “not killing anyone.”
