Opposition leader to discuss assistance to Belarus in Prague

November 16, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Sviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has arrived in Prague on the eve of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day, November 17, her press office told BPN.

During her two-day visit, she will meet Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and the leaders of both chambers of the Czech parliament, Miloš Vystrčil and Markéta Pekarová Adamová.

Cichanoŭskaja intends to discuss efforts to safeguard Belarus’ independence, assistance to Belarusian human rights defenders, media, political refugees, and students, and Belarusian volunteers in Ukraine.

She will also speak at the international conference on Russia’s hybrid war and European memory policy taking place in Prague on November 16-18 and marking the 33rd anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in former Czechoslovakia.

Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda, prominent Russian chess player and politician Garry Kasparov as well as politicians from over 20 Western countries are attending the conference, Czech media reported.
