Residential construction down 6.2 percent in ten months of 2022

November 22, BPN. From January to the end of October 2022, the total residential floor area constructed in Belarus fell to 3,162,600 square meters from 3,371,500 in the same period of 2021, the National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said.

The government partially suspended its housing credit programs in the first half of 2022 because of Western sanctions.

At the same time, Belarusian banks continued to offer mortgage loans. Banks provided a total of 716 million rubels (about $296 million), according to a July report by Alaksandr Šaŭko of the National Bank of Belarus.
