Łukašenka announces snap checks on public hospitals

December 5, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has told health officials in Minsk that public hospitals will soon be checked by independent experts.

“I want to warn you that I will soon create a mobile group of people who’ll be completely independent of you. These specialists will check the healthcare system and, selectively and unexpectedly, check hospitals,” he said, as quoted by his press office.

Łukašenka added that recently, thanks to his personal intervention, a woman was saved from dying in a local hospital.

“The question arises, Dźmitryj Leanidavič [Pinievič]: have you been carried away? Do you treat people only where required, or will you treat them the way I’ve always demanded? This worries me a lot,” he told the health minister.

“I want to warn you all that there will be no mercy for you,” he added. “Hiding behind someone’s back or, as I often say, behind the baseboard will not work.”
