Authorities lift restrictions on visiting forests in Homiel region

December 7, BPN. Belarusian authorities have lifted all restrictions on visiting forests in seven districts of the Homiel region, says an interactive map on the website of the Ministry of Forestry.

The restriction must have been lifted on December 2 or 3, since December 1 was the last day search engines found maps with restrictions.

Authorities restricted access to forests in the Brahin and Łojeŭ districts on May 23 and April 7. They also introduced restrictions in the Žytkavičy, Kalinkavičy, Lelčycy, Rečyca, and Chojniki districts, allowing people to visit forests without vehicles only.

Some experts attributed the bans and restrictions to the presence of Russian troops in these areas.

On November 30, Belarusian border authorities extended restrictions on visiting the border areas in Homiel region, in force since June 1, until March 1, 2023 “to ensure border security.”

Temporary restrictions on entry into the border areas are currently in place in the Brahin, Łojeŭ, and Chojniki districts. They do not apply to owners of plots, persons performing official duties, and border guards.

Restrictions on access to areas can be found on the public cadastral map of Belarus.
