Opposition politician says Hungary blocking new sanctions against Belarus

December 7, BPN. Hungary would not approve new sanctions against Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime, which has stepped up its crackdown on Belarusian society and is involved in Russia’s war on Ukraine, Pavieł Łatuška of the Belarusian opposition cabinet said on Instagram.

The Hungarian leadership is also blocking financial assistance for Ukrainians and previously blocked the EU sanctions package which would cap Russian oil prices, Łatuška charged.

The politician expressed doubt that Hungary complies with EU principles and standards prioritizing human rights, freedom and democracy.
