EU approves €25 million in aid to Belarus’ civil society

December 7, BPN. The European Commission says it has adopted a new €25-million assistance program for Belarus, titled “EU4Belarus: Supporting Societal Resilience and Human Capital Development.”

“Today’s new assistance package is another sign of the EU’s continued solidarity and continued commitment to the people of Belarus in the face of oppression. The Belarusian people can continue to count on the European Union’s unwavering support in their struggle for building a democratic future,” Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi said.

The program brings the total aid to the Belarusian people to more than €30 million in 2022. The EU has provided more than €100 million to Belarusians since August 2020 in direct support to repression victims, civil society, independent media, youth, small businesses, healthcare, and culture.
