Łukašenka signs clemency bill into law

December 8, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has signed the clemency bill into law, his press office reported. 

Authorities are planning to release at least 4,545 convicts, while 3,950 convicts will have their sentences reduced by one year. 

The program does not apply to individuals convicted for committing terrorist or extremist crimes. Both charges are routinely used against the regime’s opponents.
