German embassy: Aleś Bialacki’s work influences the whole of Europe

December 11, BPN. The tireless and unwavering work of Aleś Bialacki from Belarus has an impact on the whole of Europe, has said the German Embassy in Minsk.

Bialacki remains unjustly imprisoned since July 2021 and the trial against him has not yet begun, it added.

Six Belarusian human rights defenders could not celebrate International Human Rights Day as free people, the diplomats said. The German government called for the release of Aleś Bialacki, Valancin Stefanovič, Uładzimir Labkovič, Marfa Rabkova, Leanid Sudalenka, and Andrej Čapiuk.

The German embassy stressed that even though human rights are universal, they are not a given and are violated all over the world. It takes great courage to speak out against injustice, to expose violations, and to defend human rights, it added.

On December 10, Natalla Pinčuk, Bialacki’s wife, received the Nobel Peace Prize for her husband.
