Security council head: surprise check’s goal to be based on Ukraine experience

December 13, BPN. The large-scale surprise check of combat readiness that began December 13 will primarily affect immediate-response military units, Security Council head Alaksandr Valfovič has told reporters in Minsk.

“First of all, the check will affect the permanently ready units that will be solving issues if the situation on the borders of Belarus or inside the country aggravates,” Valfovič said.

A wide range of tasks will be worked out during the check, he added: a long-distance march in unfamiliar terrain, guarding various objects, establishing firing positions, and performing firing and tactical tasks.

“The goal will be based on analysis of the experience of the special military operation [Russia’s war] in Ukraine,” he said. “A unit in the southern operational axis is put on alert at 8 a.m. It’s task is to go out and secure a facility on the southern border.”

The surprise check comes amid a national drive to verify draft-age Belarusians’ data and Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Belarusian ruler had admitted that Belarus participated in Russia’s war, but said it was “not killing anyone.”
