Premier says foreign ministry should work with “unfriendly countries”

December 14, BPN. “A diplomat should be working to expand the database of high-level foreign contacts under any circumstances, no matter how negatively some of our Western circles might feel about Belarus,” Prime Minister Raman Hałoŭcanka told the foreign ministry’s staff while introducing new Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik.

Sanctions and restrictions will not last forever, he added, noting that relations will recover sooner or later.

“I want to stress in this regard that there are no unfriendly countries,” he said. “There are authorities of some states, which at the moment are pursuing discriminatory, unfriendly or openly hostile policy towards Belarus.”
