Authorities blacklist 53 more people as extremists

December 25, BPN. The Belarusian interior ministry has added 53 more people to the list of “persons involved in extremist activities,” taking the total to 2,234.

The updated list includes many people considered political prisoners by human rights groups, among them Maksim Łacuncevič, father of seven, released on December 22 but still listed as “serving his sentence.”

Other entries include former youth opposition activist Arsień Dziadok, currently serving three years of restricted freedom at an open-type correctional facility for alleged participation in protests, and former student Danuta Peradnia, sentenced to six and a half years in prison on charges of harming national interests of Belarus.
