Russian-Belarusian group of forces completes combat coordination
January 6, BPN. Russian and Belarusian troops have completed combat coordination as part of a regional group of forces, a Russian commander has reported to Alaksandr Łukašenka during the Belarusian ruler’s visit to a training ground.
Łukašenka’s press office said that the Russian component of the group is stationed at the Abuz-Lasnoŭski range in the Brest region. The Belarusian strongman emphasized the importance of Russian military expertise and of the results of the coordination effort.
“I will listen very carefully and use it in the preparation of the Belarusian-Russian armed forces for the defense of our common Fatherland. Most importantly, your military commanders and I have agreed that you will tell us about shortcomings, because we will have to continue working this way, training both Belarusians and Russians,” Łukašenka said.
On October 15, the defense ministry in Minsk said that first trains carrying Russian troops as part of the joint regional group of forces arrived in Belarus. The regional group was formed to enhance Union State border security, it said.
On January 5, the ministry reported that personnel, weapons, vehicles and equipment of the Russian Armed Forces continued arriving. The regional group is planning to hold joint aviation exercises, it said.
