Less than half of émigré activists intend to return to Belarus – survey
January 20, BPN. Just over 42 percent of Belarusians who moved abroad are ready to return home in the future, found a survey by the Center for New Ideas and Narodny Opros initiative.
Almost 18 percent said they were determined to return, while 24 percent said they would consider the possibility.
Over 32 percent did not disclose their plans, 20 percent said they were unlikely to return and 5.5 percent said a return was out of the question.
At the same time, over 70 percent of those who do not plan to return to Belarus said they were ready to participate in the country’s development after regime change.
A total of 68 percent identified Alaksandr Łukašenka’s staying in power as the key factor for their future plans.
The survey was conducted in October 2022 among 1,631 émigré Belarusians who were contacted using the Viber and Telegram messaging apps.
