Belarus’ public debt totaled $41.5 billion in October 2022

January 25, BPN. Belarus’ national debt exceeded $41.5 billion on October 1, 2022, the Eurasian Economic Commission’s (EEC) statistical department reported.

The total foreign debt of the Eurasian Economic Union’s (EEU) members amounted to $659.7 billion, a decrease of 8.6 percent from 2021.

External public debt dropped by 1.9 percent in Belarus, 3.2 percent in Kazakhstan and 11.4 percent in Russia, growing by 0.4 percent in Armenia and 4 percent in Kyrgyzstan.

The Belarusian government does not disclose data on public debt. The latest available report from the finance ministry dates back to the first half of 2022.
