Opposition leader asks Poland to support Belarusian businesses
January 26, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Sviatłana Cichanoŭskaja agreed with Polish Finance Magdalena Rzeczkowska to set up a working group to elaborate measures of support for Belarusian business, the politician’s team told BPN.
It would include members of the Belarusian opposition as well as experts from Polish finance and economic development ministries and other organizations.
Politicians also agreed to publish a booklet in Belarusian detailing Poland’s business climate, tax system and conditions for opening and doing business.
Simplified procedures for the relocation of Belarusian businesses to Poland would serve as additional protection from political persecution by Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime, Cichanoŭskaja’s team noted.
The opposition leader urged Rzeczkowska to expand support programs such as the Polish Business Harbor (PBH), which helped a number of IT companies and specialists relocate to Poland.
Pavieł Łatuška of the opposition’s transitional cabinet suggested amending PBH program’s criteria to include small and medium-sized companies from other sectors, not only IT.
