Rubel down 4.7 percent against dollar at cash exchange offices in Q1

April 2, BPN. The Belarusian currency dropped by 4.7 percent against the US dollar at cash exchange offices in the first three months of 2023, the BPN’s analysis of quotes announced by Belarusian banks’ head offices showed.

In January, the rubel rose by 1.69 percent against the dollar but dropped by 4.61 percent in February and by 1.81 percent in March.

The average dollar purchase rate rose by 1.89 percent, from 2.7783 to 2.8308 rubels. The average selling rate went up by 1.72 percent, from 2.8156 to 2.8641.

The Belarusian rubel weakened by 5.03 percent against the dollar in 2022 after a rise by 1.99 percent in 2021. In 2020, it depreciated against the dollar by 23.94 percent.
