Orthodox leader wishes for peace in Ukraine in Easter message
April 15, BPN. Tensions are growing in all spheres of human life, Metropolitan Veniamin, leader of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belarus, has said in his Easter message.
“The Resurrection of Christ is a beacon in a stormy sea, which always points us to that solid foundation of our faith and our joy, which no one and nothing can take away from us,” he added.
Veniamin prayed for “the Lord to preserve peace in our country and help people of goodwill to restore it in the lands of brotherly Ukraine.”
“Special prayers are addressed to God for people in the war zone,” Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said in his Easter message.
Patriarch Kirill and the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church, to which the Belarusian Exarchate belongs have repeatedly expressed support for Russia’s war on Ukraine.
