Ukrainian commander says 25 Russian military air vehicles stationed in Belarus

May 23, BPN. The number of Russian military jets stationed in Belarus rose from three MiG-31Ks capable of carrying Kinzhal hypersonic missiles in early April to 13 aircraft, said Ukraine’s Joint Forces Commander Serhiy Nayev. 

Russia has also deployed 12 military helicopters in Belarus, he added.  

The launches of Russian military UAVs from Belarus stopped due to the limited military cooperation of Belarusian authorities following Russian failed offensives, Nayev claimed.

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine. Alaksandr Łukašenka admitted that Belarus participated in Russia’s war on Ukraine, but said it was “not killing anyone.”

Authorities in Minsk denied Belarusian army troops’ involvement in combat operations on the Russian side. However, Belarus allowed Russian troops and weapons to move freely through the country, use its airspace, refuel and store military equipment and attack Ukraine from its territory.
