May 24, BPN. Anatol Vajciachoŭski, a businessman and founder of the Baranavičy-based advertising newspaper Shag (Step), has left Belarus.
In early April, police arrested him for online comments critical of Russia’s war on Ukraine and the Belarusian security forces. He was reportedly accused of gross violations of public order, Dissidentby said. Authorities have not disclosed any further details of his case.
“Anatol’s evacuation is the result of rapid work and experience of the BySol Foundation’s evacuation service,” the founder of the Belarus Solidarity Foundation, Andrej Stryžak, said in his Telegram channel. Vajciachoŭski was forced to flee fearing criminal persecution, he added.
