Cichanoŭskaja, Slovak minister discuss rehabilitation of Belarusian fighters in Ukraine

May 31, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja and Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Wlachovský have discussed the rehabilitation of Belarusian volunteer fighters and veterans of the war in Ukraine, according to Cichanoŭskaja’s office.

During a meeting in Bratislava, they also talked about Belarusian political prisoners, sanctions against Minsk officials, and the government’s alleged involvement in the deportation of Ukrainian children.

Cichanoŭskaja called for a consolidated strategy to solve the crisis in Belarus and to distinguish the people from the government. She urged Slovakia not to relax the sanctions against Belaruskali, Belarus’ state-owned potash producer.

Wlachovský assured Cichanoŭskaja of Slovakia’s support for the democratic movement and visa issuance to Belarusians.

Cichanoŭskaja met with Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová two days ago and spoke at the GLOBSEC security forum yesterday, where she declared the readiness of Belarusians to resist the rule of Alaksandr Łukašenka, who claims to be the legitimate president of the country.
