Former MP Anisim released after 12 days in jail

June 1, BPN. Authorities released Alena Anisim, former MP and ex-head of the outlawed Belarusian Language Society, after she had served 12 days in jail, human rights defender Taćciana Raviaka has told BPN.

Anisim was reportedly jailed on charges of disorderly conduct. She allegedly “yelled, waved her hands, acted aggressively and did not respond to requests to calm down” at the Pieršamajski District Police Department in Minsk.

Police arrested her on May 17 at her office at the Academy of Sciences. Authorities have not disclosed any information about her whereabouts since then.
