Erol Arduç takes over as UN chief in Belarus
June 1, BPN. Erol Arduç became acting UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus on June 1, the UN mission said. He replaced Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki, who led the office since 2018.
Arduç represented the UN refugee agency in Belarus since February. He worked for UNHCR since 2002 in various countries, including Kosovo, Zambia, Ukraine and Iran.
A lawyer with degrees in international law and European Union law, he also studied political science and philosophy in Germany.
The United Nations opened an office in Belarus in 1992 to support national efforts for economic development and social progress.
