Belarusian soldiers practice suppressing terrorist groups

June 5, BPN. Soldiers in the Homiel region are training to suppress the activities of “terrorist organizations and illegal armed groups,” said Homielskaja Praŭda, a pro-government newspaper.

The drill scheduled for June 5 to 7 involves military hardware and officers of various defense agencies. Traffic can be restricted, the local newspaper warned.

The announcement comes amid hostilities on the border between Russia and Ukraine, where Russian Volunteer Corps are reportedly seizing control over parts of the border zone in the Belgorod region from Vladimir Putin’s administration.

Earlier, KGB Chairman Ivan Tertel said that Belarusian volunteers fighting on the side of Ukraine might try to seize a border district center like Małaryta in the Brest region.

Ukraine denies any plans to attack Belarus.
