Belarus foreign minister, China envoy hold third meeting this year

June 5, BPN. Belarusian Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik and Chinese Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong have discused bilateral issues and cooperation in regional and international organizations, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

During their meeting in Minsk, the officials reiterated their willingness to further develop their partnership across all areas of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation, the ministry said.

They also talked about upcoming bilateral events, including a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation.

The Chinese ambassador said his country was ready to continue supporting Belarus’ accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and enhancing its engagement with BRICS, an economic bloc of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

This was the third meeting between Alejnik and Xie this year.

They met on January 19 before a joint session of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia and on February 3, weeks before Alaksandr Łukašenka’s China visit and his meeting with President Xi Jinping.
