No Russian nukes in Belarus yet – Ukrainian commander

June 6, BPN. Ukraine’s Joint Forces Commander Serhiy Nayev has said Russia has not deployed any nuclear weapons in Belarus so far.

Nayev has told the Ukrinform news agency that Moscow only sent the carriers of nuclear weapons to Belarus but may deploy the warheads soon.

“We are fully aware of this situation and are taking appropriate and adequate measures to reduce the risks using the forces we have,” Nayev said.

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, using Belarus as a staging ground for some of its attacks. Belarusian authorities deny sending any troops to Ukraine.

Last month, Belarus and Russia signed an agreement that allows Moscow to store non-strategic nuclear weapons in Belarus without giving the control over their use to the authorities there. Alaksandr Łukašenka claimed that the transfer had already begun.
