Belarusian ruler authorizes negotiations on CIS trade and investment deal

June 6, BPN. Belarusian ruler Alaksandr Łukašenka has authorized the government to negotiate an agreement to establish a Eurasian free trade zone for services and investments.

The draft aims to ensure equal and non-discriminatory treatment of businesses in the Commonwealth of Independent States regardless of nationality, registration or ownership, Łukašenka’s press office said.

It would also facilitate the establishment and operation of CIS companies in various sectors, including services, manufacturing and agriculture.

Łukašenka’s office said the deal would boost industrial cooperation, innovation and economic growth in the CIS.
