Belarusians net sellers of foreign currency in January-May

June 7, BPN. Belarusians sold $3.1 billion and bought $2.2 billion worth of foreign cash at exchange offices in the first five months of 2023, the National Bank reported.

Individuals also bought $1.5 billion and sold $912 million online.

In the first five months of 2023, net foreign currency sales exceeded purchases by $283 million.

In 2022, net foreign currency sales exceeded purchases by $26.3 million.

Belarus’ gold and foreign exchange reserves fell by $96 million in May to about $7.872 billion on June 1, according to the National Bank.
