Minsk, Moscow officials discuss cybersecurity, Russian language

June 7, BPN. Russian and Belarusian security officials have met in Minsk to discuss ways to boost their defense cooperation against NATO and cyberattacks, according to the Russian Security Council.

Security Council head Nikolay Patrushev and his Belarusian counterpart Alaksandr Valfovič agreed to strengthen law-enforcement ties and counter the use of information technology for terrorism.

Patrushev accused the West of trying to erase the Russian language and culture from former Soviet countries and promoting LGBT rights. He said learning Russian and returning to traditional education would help economic development and prosperity.

The meeting comes ahead of tomorrow’s gathering of security council secretaries from the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
