Holy See department head visits Belarus for icon festival

June 29, BPN. The head of the Vatican’s department that maintains contacts with Eastern Catholic churches arrived in Minsk yesterday as Pope Francis’ envoy for an icon festival.

The faithful will hold the annual festival for the Our Lady of Budslaŭ icon on June 30 and July 1.

Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the coronation of Our Lady of Budslaŭ, the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus said.

He will also meet with Iosif Stanieŭski, the Belarusian archbishop.

Gugerotti served as apostolic nuncio to Belarus from 2011 to 2015.
