Orthodox, Catholic spiritual leaders discuss cooperation
July 1, BPN. An Orthodox Christian spiritual leader, a Vatican envoy and a visiting papal official have discussed cooperation between the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches, as Pope Francis struggles to promote peace and dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
The talks between Metropolitan Venijamin of the Moscow-aligned Belarusian Orthodox Church (BPC), Archbishop Ante Jozić, apostolic nuncio, and Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, took place in Minsk, according to the BPC press office.
Two days ago, Gugerotti and Siarhiej Alejnik, the Belarusian foreign minister, discussed current affairs and cooperation between Belarus and the Holy See, shortly after Alejnik had a meeting with the metropolitan, the foreign ministry said in a news release.
