Belarus’ foreign minister meets with counterparts during non-aligned meeting
July 7, BPN. Belarusian Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik discussed a possible visa facilitation deal with Saudi Arabia and cooperation projects with Venezuela as he met with top diplomats from these countries.
The meetings took place on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Coordinating Bureau in Azerbaijan’s Baku on July 5 and 6, the foreign ministry’s press office reported.
Alejnik also discussed cooperation with his Ugandan counterpart Jeje Odongo whose country is about to take over the NAM presidency.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated his country’s “principled and open position” on the unacceptability of Western unilateral sanctions, the Belarusian foreign ministry said.
Alejnik spoke about food security with his counterpart from Kuwait Sheikh Salem Al Sabah and talked about Belarus’ bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) with Indian diplomat Sanjay Verma whose country is completing its SCO presidency.
The Belarusian foreign minister also met diplomats from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Cuba, Iran, Qatar, Palestine, South Africa and Syria.
