Officials accuse Lithuanian border guard of crossing into Belarus

July 14, BPN. A Lithuanian border officer briefly crossed into Belarus yesterday as he was registering travelers at Medininkai, the Belarusian State Border Committee said.

It said it reported the “illegal” incident to Lithuanian officials but it was too early to accuse Vilnius of provocation. Two foreigners had violated the Belarusian border in the area during technical work on April 25, it added.

The incident comes amid concerns in Lithuania about illegal migration from Belarus.
