Belstat reports two-percent economic growth in first six months

July 17, BPN. Belarus’ economy grew by two percent in the first six months, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) reported.

Industrial output rose by six percent year on year, retail sales by 4.6 percent, wholesale trade by 5.1 percent, restaurant sales by 11.8 percent, and agricultural production by 2.7 percent.

Belarus’ economy contracted by 4.7 percent last year amid international sanctions. The government projects growth of 3.8 percent for 2023.
