Belarusian troops training with Russian mercenaries near Polish border

July 20, BPN. Belarusian special operation forces and Wagner Group fighters are training at a shooting range in the Brest region near the Polish border, the defense ministry has said.

“Over the course of four days the Brescki training ground hosts tactical and special training sessions involving Wagner PMC fighters,” it said in a media release.

The Kremlin-linked private military contractor announced its relocation to Belarus in early July after a feud with the Russian defense ministry and a failed mutiny.

The Belarusian ministry last week announced a road map to gain experience from the Wagner Group. VoyenTV released footage of Russian mercenaries training Belarusian reservists.

In the following days, the defense monitoring group Biełaruski Hajun reported that several Wagner convoys moved to a camp near Asipovičy, Mahiloŭ region.

The Ukrainian intelligence said between 500 and 700 Wagner mercenaries entered the country.

In January 2023, the United States designated Wagner as a transnational criminal group.
