Government adds 20 to its list of “extremists”, including a teen and a media CEO

July 21, BPN. Authorities in Belarus have added 20 people to their list of “extremists” amid ongoing reprisals against protesters and journalists.

One of them is Kanstancin Załatych, Mediarynok CEO and director of the business monthly Belorusy i Rynok.

The Minsk City Court sentenced him to four years in prison on charges denounced by human rights groups as politically motivated. The Committee for State Security (KGB) branded him as a terrorist.

The new additions also include Valeryja Čarnamorcava, who researched GULAG, the Soviet network of forced labor camps, blogger Alaksandar Hurnik, and teenager Alaksandar Śliapnioŭ.

The list now comprises 3.068 names.
