National Bank member calls for more independence from foreign tech
July 28, BPN. A deputy chairman of the Belarusian central bank’s board has urged financial institutions to reduce their reliance on foreign software and hardware, citing geopolitical risks.
Dźmitryj Kalečyc made the remarks at a board meeting yesterday, and they were posted on the bank’s website today.
Kalečyc said technological sovereignty was vital for the payment market and digital technologies of the Belarusian banking sector amid the current international situation.
He also called for more support for local IT companies that offer alternatives to foreign software and hardware.
