Cichanoŭskaja calls on IMF to support Belarus reform after democratic change

December 9, Pozirk. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has called on the International Monetary Fund to support reforms after a democratic change in Belarus.
The Belarusian opposition leader had her first meeting at the IMF in Washington yesterday, her senior advisor Franak Viačorka told Pozirk. She met with country and sector representatives.
“Cichanoŭskaja told them about the economic and political situation in Belarus, that our democratic forces’ economists are already drafting economic reform projects, including on privatization, social care, pensions, and green economy,” Viačorka said.
According to Cichanoŭskaja’s office, the meeting was attended by executives from Austria, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Spain, Lithuania, Poland, and France.
Cichanoŭskaja’s economic advisor Aleś Alachnovič also took part in the talks.
