Belarus could not be neutral platform for talks on Ukraine – Kyiv’s envoy
February 23, Pozirk. Belarus could not serve as a neutral platform for talks on Ukraine because it is complicit in Russian aggression, Ukrainian envoy Ihor Kyzym told Pozirk in an interview.
“It is clear that the Belarusian military-industrial complex is closely integrated with the Russian one, meaning that it supplies the aggressor with weapons that later kill Ukrainian citizens,” he said.
At the same time, he said Belarus and Ukraine maintain diplomatic ties.
“Unfortunately, after Russian troops invaded Ukraine from Belarusian territory on February 24, 2022, the ties are not as close as before, but my position is that it is better to have these relations than to have none,” Kyzym said.
He did not rule out the possibility of better relations in the future. “I think that with time we will understand each other. We have much more in common with the Belarusian people than with the Russians, who are zombified and support the war,” he said.
Formerly ambassador to Minsk, Kyzym was appointed ambassador-at-large earlier this month. Below is the link to his full interview in Russian:
