Łukašenka meets with pro-government women activists

March 5, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka’s press office has posted pictures from his meeting with more than 500 activists of the pro-government Belarusian Women’s Union (BWU).

He suggested that the BWU should launch a political party, but then dismissed the idea, noting that “people don’t take political parties seriously.”

He described the BWU as a pillar of society.

The meeting came days before International Women’s Day, March 8.

The BWU claims to have more than 150,000 members across the country. Its mission is to elevate status of women in society.
