Foreign trade surplus nears $100 million in January

March 11, Pozirk. Belarus’ foreign trade in goods and services rose by 0.4 percent year on year to $7.23 billion in January 2024, according to preliminary data from the National Bank.
Exports rose by 1 percent to $3.67 billion, while imports decreased by 0.1 percent to $3.57 billion. The surplus widened by 66.4 percent totaling $98.5 million.
Trade in goods rose by 1.1 percent to $6.18 billion with exports at $3.03 billion, imports at $3.15 billion and a deficit of $125 million.
Trade in services dropped by 3.4 percent to $1.15 billion with exports at $639 million, imports at $415.5 million and a surplus of $223.5 million.
In October 2023, Alaksandar Łukašenka approved the key development parameters for 2024, projecting a rise in exports of goods and services of 7.6 percent.
Earlier, the central bank reported a 6.8 percent year-on-year increase in trade in goods and services in 2023 to $95.26 billion.
