Łukašenka dismisses officials who move to lower house

March 29, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has dismissed several high-ranking officials, who were awarded seats in the new House of Representatives, formed after the parliamentary and local elections held from February 20 to 25.

One of them is Ihar Sierhijenka, head of Łukašenka’s administration, whom MPs unanimously elected as speaker on March 22.

Other names on the list are Labor Minister Iryna Kaścievič, Łukašenka’s aide in Minsk Alaksandar Barsukoŭ, leading legal expert Vadzim Ipataŭ and Academy of Management Rector Viacasłaŭ Danilovič.

Łukašenka also dismissed Homiel region’s judge Mikałaj Maratajeŭ as well as Hienadź Lapieška and Andrej Lis as heads of the Military Academy and the Minsk region’s Investigative Committee, respectively, to enable them to take on new jobs in the legislature.
