Greek president supports Belarusians’ aspirations for democracy

April 13, Pozirk. Greece supports Belarusians’ aspirations for democracy and human rights, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou has told Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, Kathimerini reported.
At a meeting at the Presidential Mansion in Athens, the exiled Belarusian opposition leader briefed Sakellaropoulou on the situation in her country and the need for solidarity with her people.
Cichanoŭskaja recalled at the meeting that three years ago Belarusian security services forced a Ryanair flight en route from Athens to Vilnius to land in Minsk, her aide, Franak Viačorka, told Pozirk.
She stressed that Belarusian officials should be held accountable for the incident and for involvement in the transfers of Ukrainian children to Belarus, where they are exposed to indoctrination.
The Belarusian politician discussed the legalization of exiled Belarusians in Greece, including paperwork and expired passports, and recuperation programs for children of political prisoners.
