Defense ministry wrapping up drills

April 17, Pozirk. About 6,500 reservists called up for drills to the 120th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade and 19th Detached Mechanized Brigade will return home before April 30, the defense ministry’s press office has announced.
The units started sending reservists home on Wednesday, wrapping up the comprehensive combat readiness exercise that began on March 11 in response to Steadfast Defender, NATO’s multi-domain exercise taking place from late January to the end of May.
The troops to practiced new ways of using weapons, military and special equipment, repelling air and drone attacks, improving survivability and combatting sabotage and reconnaissance groups, said Leanid Kasinski, in charge of ideology at the defense ministry.
The official also praised the effectiveness of Russian-trained instructors, who significantly improved the quality of training by sharing modern combat experiences.
Steadfast Defender is NATO’s multi-domain exercise incorporating land, air, sea, cyber and space operations.
It involves deploying forces from North America and other parts of the Alliance to Europe. Over several months, complex multi-domain operations will be conducted across thousands of kilometers, thereby enhancing civil-military cooperation and national and collective resilience.
The exercise is strategically located in several key European countries, including Finland, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
