Belarus warns of Ukrainian military build-up at its border
June 20, Pozirk. The Belarusian State Border Committee has reported that Ukraine is building up forces at the shared border, deploying heavy weapons.
Special operations forces, intelligence, heavy weapons, combat vehicles, HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, M777 howitzers and German-made Gepard anti-aircraft guns have been spotted near the border, it noted.
Belarusian border guards and troops are on high alert, ready to prevent “provocations,” the border committee said.
“Special maneuver groups” equipped with state-of-the-art weapons assist border guards, it added.
In late October, Ukraine said 1,800 Belarusian troops were deployed to the border area under the pretext of drills.
