Belarus, China preparing for high-level talks

July 23, Pozirk. Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryžankoŭ and Chinese Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong have met in Minsk to discuss the preparation of high-level meetings, the Belarusian ministry reported.

High-level meetings usually mean visits by the heads of parliaments, governments or ministers.

The two also discussed the results of Ryžankoŭ’s visit to China on July 6–9.

In Beijing, Ryžankoŭ met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and Liu Jianchao, in charge of international affairs of the Communist Party of China.

The Belarusian foreign minister said he discussed the Belarusian-Polish border crisis with the Chinese officials.

“During my trip [to China in June], we shared several documents and detailed the situation at the border,” he said. The Chinese side accepted the explanation, losing “any interest in intrigues,” the diplomat noted.

Ryžankoŭ described the June visit by Polish President Andrzej Duda to China as an attempt to influence Minsk to “solve its issues with Poland.”
