Minsk subway to receive first train from Russia
July 31, Pozirk. Russia’s Metrowagonmash has delivered its first train for the Minsk subway, the press office of its parent company, Transmashholding, reported.
The contract for the supply of 28 subway cars was signed in March 2023 after Switzerland’s Stadler backed out of its contract over international sanctions.
Metrowagonmash is to deliver six more trains before 2025.
Stadler has operated an assembly plant in Belarus since 2014. In May 2022, the company announced the transfer of some orders to other countries because of the European Union’s sanctions.
