Security chief claims West wants to interfere in 2025 presidential vote

September 8, Pozirk. Alaksandar Valfovič, state secretary of Belarus’ Security Council, has accused the West of attempts to “unleash another ‘color revolution’ in Belarus” and “deploy some kind of liberation forces in the country.”
“The West has not given up on this [plan],” he said in the interview broadcast by the state-run ONT TV channel on Sunday evening. “We know who can implement it. Special services are keeping an eye on them. If they raise their heads, we will crush them at once. We will do everything possible to ensure that our people live in peace.”
The next presidential election in Belarus is expected to be scheduled for 2025.
In 2020, Alaksandar Łukašenka suppressed massive protests against election fraud.
All leaders of the Belarusian opposition are either in prison or were forced to leave the country and operate from exile.
