Ukraine honors Kalinoŭski fighters

December 15, Pozirk. Members of the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment (KKR), a Belarusian volunteer unit fighting alongside Ukrainian regular troops, have received state awards in Ukraine, the regiment’s press office reported.

The soldiers were rewarded “for military merit and courage shown in battles.” The awards included a presidential medal.

“This is a great honor for Belarusian volunteers,” the statement said, without disclosing the number of those honored or their names for security reasons.

KKR fighters have received awards before, while facing serious charges from Belarusian authorities accusing regiment members of extremism and terrorism. For its turn, the KKR declared the Belarusian regime a terrorist organization.
